Overview

Alper Yılmaz is a faculty member at the Department of Economics at Koç University since 2019. He teaches introductory and intermediate-level micro- and macroeconomics courses as well as international trade and environmental and natural resource economics. He has also taught managerial economics at various MBA programs in the U.S. and Europe. Dr. Yılmaz has worked as an advisor at PwC earlier in his career with a specialization in transfer pricing and international taxation.

From 2004 till 2011, he worked for the Adecco Group as the Director of Global Transfer Pricing at a capacity of vice president prior to leaving for EY. During his tenure at EY as a partner/principal, he was the Country Transfer Pricing Leader in Turkey and the Central and Southeast Europe region, and he also worked as the Director of EMEIA Transfer Pricing Desk in the U.S.

Dr. Yılmaz received his BSc in Industrial Engineering from the Middle East Technical University, MA in Economics from Bilkent University, and Ph.D. in Agricultural and Resource Economics from University of California, Davis. Alper Yılmaz is also a professional jazz musician with albums under his leadership and as a sideman. To share his experience in music, he offers Jazz Ensemble courses at Koç for non-music majors.
