Overview

Mehmet Yörükoğlu is a Professor of Economics at Koç University, Istanbul, Türkiye. Dr. Yorukoglu is a macroeconomist with a broad disciplinary interest. His research expertise lies in the areas of technological development, innovation, economic growth, and macroeconomic policy. He received his Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Rochester.

Before joining Koç University, he held faculty positions at The University of Chicago, The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and Sabanci University. He served as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) and was a member of the Monetary Policy Committee at CBRT between 2006 and 2016. He represented CBRT at the deputy level in international organizations including the IMF, World Bank, G20, Bank for International Settlements, and EBRD.

Dr. Yorukoglu received TÜBA-GEBİP (Turkish Academy of Sciences Outstanding Young Scientist Award) and was appointed as an associate member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences. He has published articles in academic journals such as the American Economic Review, Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Monetary Economics, European Economic Review, and Review of Economic Dynamics.
