Introduction to the theory and practice of literary translation with special emphasis on the genres of fiction, poetry and drama. Reading and discussing major critical and theoritical texts. Focus on elements of creative writing essential to the translation process. Examining published translated texts in a comparative frame as well as doing personal translations. Reading about the strategies and experiences of various translators and interviewing an established translator.
